We are now offering a ghostwriting service to authors. It isn’t cheap, because writing a book on your behalf is hugely time-intensive. We only use experienced ghostwriters who have the ability to write both fact and fiction.

Maybe you’ve got an idea for a book. You’ve got a story to tell. You’re not a writer, but you desperately want to tell the world your story. We can help you by conducting a series of face-to-face (or Zoom/Skype – lots of things have changed since Covid, so if you prefer to do things in a socially distanced way we’ll make that happen) interviews with one of our authors. If we feel that we can do a good job in making your idea come to life, we’ll write it for you.

On average, we find that ghostwriting a story that you’ve already got a clear plan for (maybe your autobiography, or writing up a subject that you’ve already researched) for about 40,000-50,000 words takes a total of around 25 hours of interviews. Behind the scenes, there’s another 100 hours or so of writing up, travelling to and from interviews, sequencing chapters, redrafting once you’ve seen and commented on our initial draft, typesetting the book, proofreading and getting your cover designed.

Our usual price for ghostwriting is between £75 and £80 per 1,000 words, but this depends on a lot of factors. Books requiring substantial additional research are more time-consuming and therefore more expensive. Short books (such as children’s books) require a lot more work. Books which are easy to write can often be cheaper (for example, if you’ve already got a structure and outline and know exactly what you want in the book). We’ll normally throw in 200 printed copies for you, free of additional charge (paperback, colour cover, black-and-white interior). You’d own the copyright, and you could have more books printed at any time you want.

We understand that ghostwriting is expensive because there’s a lot of work involved, and one of the biggest stumbling blocks is that people don’t always know how they’ll get on with their ghostwriter. We have a simple solution to this problem. We can agree with you a heavily discounted price for the first 8-10 hours’ work, and produce a sample chapter of a key scene or moment in your book. If it’s not working out for you, there’s no need to continue.

Warning: all ghostwriting work is individually priced – prices can go up or down.

We also offer a redrafting service. If you want us to take your manuscript and use our expertise to improve it, we can have a go! Prices for this service are based upon our hourly rate (£25 per hour) as every job is different.
